Local Counseling Practice Receives IRS 501 (c) 3 Determination
The IRS has granted 501(c) 3 tax exempt status to Journey To Freedom Inc., a local non-profit counseling practice. Journey To Freedom Inc. offers individual, family, and group counseling to residents of Otsego and the surrounding counties of Antrim, Charlevoix, Crawford, Cheboygan, Emmet, Kalkaska, and Montmorency. The practice provides services dealing with life and mental health issues, with a specialization in the recovery from childhood sexual abuse and sexual assault.
Violet Luebs, LLMSW, Executive Director of the practice, said, “the area’s economy and an over burdened state mental health system has deterred many people who are struggling with various life, mental and abuse issues from seeking the assistance they need”. Journey To Freedom Inc. offers services to all seeking assistance regardless of financial ability. “We are excited with the IRS determination”, said Luebs, “it provides us the opportunity to seek grants, accept tax-deductible donations, and participate in some fund raising events so we can continue offering crucial services affordably to our clients and our communities”.
